Carteret County Public Schools’ October 6 Board of Education recap highlighted student leadership, staff training, academic progress and a new grant for students and families facing a crisis.

$24,500 for crisis assistance

Duke Energy presented a $24,500 grant to the Carteret Education Foundation’s Crisis Assistance Fund. The district says the funding will expand support for students and families responding to disasters and other crises.

The district reported that the full Board received the North Carolina School Boards Association’s Silver Bell Award for training and professional development. The meeting also recognized October as National Principals Month, featured fifth graders from Bogue Sound Elementary leading the Pledge of Allegiance, and included an update on continued academic growth and gains across the district.
